A Carpet Doctor uses two basic approaches for controlling odors in carpets.
The first is a “top side only” treatment, recommended for light to moderate contamination.
This consists of pre-treating specified areas or entire rooms with a pre-conditioner designed for destroying and eliminating odors usually caused by pets.
These products are liberally applied to the contaminated areas, allowed time to work, and then the products are extracted out of the carpet with our truck mounted equipment. Post treatments can also be applied to treat any remaining odors.
The second approach is designed for excessive to severe contamination (repeated exposure in the same area for long amounts of time). For this level of contamination it is necessary to peel the carpet back, remove contaminated padding, and seal the floor with KILZ primer.
We then replace the padding and treat and clean both sides of the carpet. After reinstalling the carpet additional deodorizing products can be applied. As always all of our products are safe for children and pets.
In addition to pet odors, we are also able to correct cigarette odors and general unpleasant odors with unknown causes.
